TRAINING OVERVIEW

Application of the FMLA continues to present difficulties for human resource professionals. This session will address some of the more challenging FMLA scenarios such as: addressing untimely or incomplete medical certifications, compensation of rest breaks due to a serious health condition; does FMLA suspend points from rolling off in a no-fault attendance policy; does organ donation qualify as a serious health condition; can an employer delay the designation of leave as FMLA; does intermittent leave apply to a parent’s need to attend a school meeting regarding the educational and special medical needs of their child. This session will conclude by exploring recent judicial decisions and Department of Labor opinion letters that are shaping the FMLA landscape.

Note: This program requires that attendees have a working knowledge of basic FMLA terminology such as, eligibility requirements, serious health condition, intermittent leave, employer and employee notice provisions.
