At the close of 2025, the APG team reflected on a simple but urgent insight from our Leading in a Changing World series: trust is the engine behind healthy organizations, healthy communities, and a healthy democracy – and this generation of leaders has both the opportunity and the responsibility to help renew it.
That insight is what drives our 2026 work. As part of our giveback to the community, we’re excited to open our Friday Learning Group to a broader audience – starting with an exceptional conversation on Friday, February 27.
We’ll be joined by Lee Kamlet – Denver native, Colorado State University alumnus, and a journalist with nearly four decades of experience covering local, national, and international news. Lee spent years as a producer for ABC News World News Tonight and NBC’s Dateline. His work has earned three Emmy Awards, a Columbia University/Alfred DuPont Silver Baton, and a Writers Guild of America Award. He later served as Dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University.

Lee has covered some of the most consequential stories of our time – three presidential campaigns, 9/11, and the aftermath of the Gulf War – building a career on asking hard questions, following evidence, and telling complex stories with integrity.
In this session, we’ll explore what leaders should know about the state of journalism at a moment when trust, credibility, and shared understanding feel increasingly fragile.
Topics will include:
- How credibility is built – and lost – in high-stakes environments
- What leaders can learn from journalism: asking better questions, weighing evidence, and resisting easy narratives
- Why truth-seeking matters more than ever in leadership and civic life
This will be an informal, conversational session – open to anyone who cares about leadership, trust, and the state of our information environment.
