Training Overview:

A practical session on proven strategies to promote healthy communication and deliver higher performance. Participants will explore how Carl Rogers’ model of transparency, warmth, and sensitivity can improve working relationships and individual wellbeing. 

How can you improve your communication to enhance your own well-being? What might psychologist Carl Rogers have to teach us about building clear and helpful communication cultures? Join us for a session focused on simple, effective strategies to improve your professional and personal communication strategies. Using the Carl Rogers model for helping relationships, participants will explore three factors that lead to caring communication that helps people feel valued : genuine transparency, emotional warmth, and empathic sensitivity. Through reflection and discussion, participants will discover approaches they can use to improve their communication when it matters. 

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop understanding of the concept of Rogerian Rhetoric
  • Understand the three aspects of creating a culture of Rogerian Rhetoric: Transparency, Warmth, and Sensitivity.
  • Practice strategies for each component of Rogerian Rhetoric for emotional sensitivity, improved productivity and improved individual wellbeing.
  • Be able to incorporate Rogerian-inspired communication strategies into your professional and personal communication.

Your Trainer

Sean Waters 

Sean Waters holds masters degrees in both Philosophy and Education. A highly-rated and nominated master teacher, he’s taught over one thousand students over his 18-year career in higher education. His experience focuses on designing rigorous and engaging learning environments for personal and professional development. At Colorado State University, he’s taught courses in Logic and Critical Thinking, World Philosophy, Ethics, College Composition, Writing Arguments, and Writing in Digital Environments. He believes that education is about inviting both teachers and students to actualize and transcend the self.

In addition to teaching classes at Colorado State university, Sean is the faculty director of a CSU program for intergenerational social-emotional learning. He’s dedicated to the power of language and communication to improve people’s lives and working relationships.

He’s also the owner/facilitator for the Wisdom Workshop, where Sean helps individuals and teams create the conditions for awakening and innovative insight. He offers a variety of learning experiences on crafting cohesion, writing the good life, wise leadership, group facilitation, and emergent learning.
